Tratamiento quirúrgico del Síndrome de Poland: Enfoque combinado entre cirugía general y plástica

La anomalía de Poland es una afección congénita esporádica, fenotípicamente variable, caracterizada generalmente por agenesia unilateral del músculo pectoral y deformidad ipsilateral de la mano. Se realizó una revisión exhaustiva de la literatura médica sobre la anomalía de Poland mediante una búsqueda en Medline. La anomalía de Poland es una afección congénita esporádica, fenotípicamente variable, caracterizada generalmente por sindactilia unilateral y simple con hipoplasia ipsilateral del miembro y agenesia del músculo pectoral. El tratamiento quirúrgico de la sindactilia en la anomalía de Poland está determinado por la gravedad de la afectación de la mano y la disfunción anatómica resultante. La reconstrucción con sindactilia se recomienda en todos los casos, excepto en los más leves, porque la mayoría de los pacientes con anomalía de Poland tienen braquidactilia notable, y la separación digital puede mejorar la longitud funcional. Una mejor comprensión de la etiología y la presentación de la anomalía de Polonia puede mejorar el reconocimiento y el tratamiento clínico de esta enfermedad congénita poco frecuente.
